My family and I will be moving there in September. My husband has a job opportunity as soon as we get to the island. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that might have job leads for myself, or can recommend a good place to apply for. I have looked at the websites already and they are quite dead. I have an extensive background in customer service as a receptionist/front desk, specifically in the salon and spa industry. We are very very VERY excited to be moving to this beautiful place!!! Also, any rentals(efficiency-2 bedroom) you may know of that are decently priced, or any info at all would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!

You won't have any problem adjusting to life on St Croix. Go to craigslist for the Virgin Islands. Plenty of nice apartments listed. Suggest you look for a place on the north shore west end. With your skills work will be an easy find....it will be more like what job should I take? There are numerous resorts in need of good front desk people. Carambola is going through a major renovation....they are in desperate need of friendly qualified help. You will discover that many locals have two part time jobs....rather than one full time job. You will not find any high paying jobs in the tourism sector. Hovensa is the islands largest employer....it's a refinery on the south shore. For lots more info....find me on FB (Ron Dionne)....plenty of links with friends on STX.

Just a comment on your additional details. There are certainly places in America that are not completely filled with rude people. Small towns in what the people on the coasts describe as flyover country are generally filled with friendly, polite, and community oriented people.

I can't comment much on job opportunities in St. Croix, but I have noticed in Dominican Republic that persons who look and speak more like the tourists have the higher level jobs at the resorts and with the tour operators.

You are NOT going to find the bottom rung, sh*t jobs listed on the internet.. you will have to GO IN PERSON and APPLY... just like you would have to do in the US and do you know ANYTHING about what you are actually facing on the island? I am guessing you have never BEEN there or anywhere else in the Caribbean either, for that matter. You really should GO THERE before you MOVE there just so you can see what a different CULTURE you will be moving into.. St. Croix may be in the US Virgins, but it is NOT US IN CULTURE. If you are thinking you are going to find AMERIKA you will be in for a real awakening and CULTURE SHOCK.
